“Château de Massanes” is a trading name for Historic Estates Ltd, which is a company registered in the UK founded in 2010 for the purpose of preserving historic estates.

In 2022 the organisation purchased the historic Château de Massanes in Gard, Languedoc. Château de Massanes is a truly historic property which started as a Roman villa, owned by the Roman warlord Marcus, then became a medievel seigneurie and in the early 18th century was turned into a neoclassical château. The château consists of several ajoined buildings and towers, flanked to the south and west by 18th century neoclassical facades. The chateau has a number of sloping terraces in the garden and an impressive Roman portal. At the time of purchase Château de Massanes was under threat of falling into complete disrepair, with significant roof leaks having caused major damage to two of the medieval structures.

However, now the château will be protected for the preservation and enjoyment of future generations. Château de Massanes used to be – and still is – an enchanted historic castle, and the property’s noble history add to its attractions.
