Representative of the south of France, the main villages of the Gard Provençal have an incredible charm and authenticity. Depending on their geographical location, they also retain certain differences that make them unique and very pleasant to visit. Some of them are also part of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.

Cultural sites

  • The Pont du Gard
    A very famous Roman aqueduct, located about twenty kilometres from Nîmes;
  • Le camp de César
    An ancient town with a unique view of the region (Cèze valley);
  • Gicon Castle
    Historical site located at the highest point of the municipality of Chusclan;
  • The Duchy of Uzès
    Imposing construction of the Ducal Castle built in the heart of the city of Uzès.
  • La Maison Carrée (Square House) stands proudly in the center of Nîmes. Dating from the 1st century AD, it was dedicated to Caius and Lucius Caesar, adopted grandsons of Emperor Augustus. It is often described as “the only fully preserved temple of the ancient world.”
  • The Arènes in Nîmes from the 1st century AD is considered to be the best preserved amphitheatre in the world and is still in use today for inter alia concerts and sports events! Two stories high, 133 meters (436 feet) long and 101 meters (331 feet) wide, it is an impressive structure.
